Insert HappySupport Articles into Intercom Replies
Insert HappySupport articles into your Intercom reply drafts by searching and selecting content directly in the composer window.
The AI Article Recorder lets you search your article library and insert article content directly into Intercom reply drafts. This saves you from switching tabs or copying and pasting between apps. Before you start, make sure you have the AI Article Recorder installed (see "How to Install the AI Article Recorder Chrome extension"), and that you're logged into both HappySupport and Intercom.
Inserting an Article
-
Open a reply composer in Intercom
Go to app.intercom.com and open a conversation where you want to reply. Click into the reply composer to make it active. -
Click the insert button
In the composer toolbar, click "Insert HappySupport article." The button appears beside Intercom's own article inserter and matches the composer's light or dark theme. -
Search for an article
A HappySupport modal opens outside the Intercom interface. Type at least three characters into the search field. Results appear as you type and can include both public and private articles, depending on your access level. Each result shows metadata such as the title, Help Center, group, visibility, and link information. -
Select and preview an article
Click an article from the search results. The modal displays a preview of the rendered Markdown content, including any step images, animated media, and video embeds. -
Insert the article into your reply
Click to confirm your selection. The article body is inserted into the active Intercom reply draft, ready to send or edit further.
Signing In
If you see a login prompt instead of the search field, the AI Article Recorder doesn't have a valid HappySupport session. Click the prompt to open the HappySupport login page, sign in, then return to Intercom and click "Insert HappySupport article" again. Searches and previews become available once you're authenticated.
Troubleshooting
- The button doesn't appear: Refresh the Intercom page. If the button still doesn't show, confirm the AI Article Recorder is installed and enabled in Chrome.
- Search returns no results or fails: Check that you're logged into HappySupport. Queries shorter than three characters won't trigger a search.
- Article inserts into the wrong composer: The AI Article Recorder inserts into the currently active reply draft. Click into the correct composer before opening the modal.
