How to use AI Article Recorder (Chrome Extension)
Learn how to use the AI Article Recorder extension to create step-by-step documentation directly in your web browser. This guide will walk you through setting up a recording session with audio narration.








Getting Started

Open the browser extensions menu
Click the puzzle piece icon in your browser toolbar, located to the right of the address bar. This opens your browser's extensions menu where you can access the AI Article Recorder. -
Access the AI Article Recorder panel
The AI Article Recorder panel will appear on the right side of your browser window. You'll see the panel header showing "AI Article Recorder" with the version number and development badge.
Setting Up Your Recording
- Enter a recording title
Click in the Title field at the top of the AI Article Recorder panel and type a descriptive name for your recording. This title will help you identify your documentation later.

Configure the location settings
In the Location section, you can add and select folder locations for organizing your recordings:- Click the "add" button to add new location options
- Select from the dropdown menu to choose where your recording will be saved
- You can select multiple locations if needed

Choose your content type
Select the type of documentation you want to create:- Step-by-step: Creates numbered instructions for sequential processes
- UI overview: Captures interface elements and their descriptions

Enable audio recording
Toggle the Audio recording switch to turn on voice narration. This allows you to add spoken context while recording your steps. When enabled, you'll see a dropdown menu showing available microphones where you can select your preferred audio input device.
Starting Your Recording

Begin the recording session
Once all settings are configured, click the orange "Start recording" button at the bottom of the panel. The recording will begin immediately, and you'll see a floating control bar at the bottom of your screen showing the recording status and step counter. -
Perform your documented actions
With the recording active, perform the actions you want to document. Each click and interaction will be captured as a step. The step counter in the control bar will update as you work.
- Stop the recording
When you've completed all the steps you want to document, click the red "Stop" button in the floating control bar at the bottom of your screen.
Your recording is now complete and saved according to the settings you configured. The recorded steps and any audio narration will be processed into documentation format.
