How to Delete a Draft Changelog Entry
Delete draft changelog entries from the Drafts shelf in your Help Center's Changelog view by hovering over the row and clicking the Delete action
You can permanently remove a draft entry from your Help Center's changelog. Only admins can delete entries, and only drafts can be deleted. Readers haven't seen drafts yet, so deleting one doesn't take anything away from them.
Open the changelog
-
Go to the Changelog view
Open the Changes page. In the column of links on the left, below "What's new", "All", "Review", "In docs" and "Set aside", select "Changelog" (it has a small megaphone icon). -
Pick your Help Center
If the filter includes entries from more than one Help Center, select the one you want first. The list then shows only that Help Center's entries. If you see "Readers can't see this changelog yet" above the list, the changelog hasn't been turned on for this Help Center. There's nothing you can delete until it's enabled.
Delete the entry
-
Find the draft on the Drafts shelf
The list has two shelves. "Drafts" holds entries readers haven't seen, and "Published" holds entries readers can already see. Find your entry under "Drafts". Each row shows the entry's heading, a category label, the publication day, and a status.Published entries can't be deleted here. Their row shows "Unpublish" instead, and you can only delete the entry after it's been taken down and comes back as a draft. If you try to delete a published entry anyway, the server refuses and you'll see a failure notice.
-
Click Delete on the row
Hover over or focus the draft row. A "Delete" text action appears at the right end of the row. It stays hidden until you move your pointer onto the row. Its tooltip reads "Deletes the entry and its sources' marks." Click "Delete".If you don't see any actions on the rows, you don't have permission to author the changelog. Only admins can do this.
-
Confirm the deletion
A dialog opens with the heading "Delete this entry?" What it says depends on how the entry was made:- Written from source changes: "The entry is deleted and its source changes are no longer marked for the changelog."
- Made by hand: "The entry is deleted. This cannot be undone."
Nothing is removed until you click "Delete" in the dialog. Cancel if you've changed your mind.
While the deletion runs, a small spinner replaces the action. When it's done, the row disappears from the list. You can't undo the deletion, and any source changes lose their changelog mark. If you had the deleted entry open, the page goes back to the list and opens its first entry. If the deletion fails, a "Deleting failed" toast shows the reason the server gave.
If that was the last entry, the pane reads "Nothing in the changelog yet. Mark a change with the megaphone in its bar."
