Manage Your Profile Photo

Upload and crop your profile photo in Personal Information settings to save your square avatar across your account and content

You can upload, change, or remove your profile photo from your Profile settings. To add or change a photo, you select an image, position it in the crop modal, and confirm it. The places your photo shows up are listed under "Where your photo appears" below.

  1. Open Settings
Click "Settings" to access your account configuration.

  2. Select Personal Information
In the Personal section of the Settings navigation panel, click "Profile" to open your personal information page.

Choose and Crop Your Photo

  1. Select a photo
Click "Upload photo", or "Change photo" if you already have one. Choose a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image up to 20 MB from your device.

  2. Position your image
A crop modal opens showing your selected image inside a squircle frame. Drag the image to reposition it within the frame until your subject is centered where you want it.

  3. Adjust the zoom
Use the zoom control to make the image larger or smaller within the frame. This helps you frame your face or focus area precisely.

  4. Confirm your selection
Click "Use photo" to save your cropped photo. The application processes your image and converts it to a square avatar.

Remove Your Photo

  1. Remove your photo
When a photo is set, click "Remove" on your Profile page to delete it.

Where Your Photo Appears

When you're signed in, your photo appears in the sidemenu account row and the profile popover. User photos also appear in:

  • Article lists and author details
  • Glossary creator rows
  • Team member rows

If no photo is available, you'll see initials or a generic person icon instead.

Troubleshooting

If you picked the wrong image or the positioning isn't right, cancel the crop modal and start over. You can select a new photo and try again as many times as needed.
