Manage and recover HappySupport Recorder uploads
Track HappySupport Recorder uploads and article generation progress in the Recent list, then retry stopped uploads or open finished articles.
After you click upload, HappySupport Recorder hands the recording off to the background and returns you to the setup screen. You don't need to wait. The "Recent" list on that screen is where you track every upload and recover from problems.
Find your uploads
-
Open the setup screen
In Chrome, open the HappySupport Recorder extension from the browser toolbar. In the desktop app, open HappySupport Recorder. Both land on the setup screen. Below the setup form, look for the "Recent" section. It appears when there's at least one recording to show. -
Sign in if needed
If you were signed out, sign in first. Click "Login with HappySupport" to use your existing account. If you need the alternative, click "Login with email instead", enter your email and password, then click "Login with email". Successful sign-in returns you to the setup screen.
Check upload and article-writing progress
-
Read the status on each row
Each recording in "Recent" shows its title and current status. You'll see one of these:- "Waiting to upload": queued and waiting its turn.
- "Uploading" with a percentage: actively uploading.
- "Writing the article…": upload finished, article is being generated.
- A completion timestamp with the article's status (such as "Draft", "Published", or "Internal: AI only"): the article is ready.
-
Check the brief notice after uploading
Right after you hand off a recording, a short notice may appear ("Uploading in the background", "Uploaded, now in Recent", or "Upload stopped, see Recent"). It disappears after a few seconds. The row in "Recent" is the lasting place to follow progress.
Open or copy a link to a ready article
-
Open the finished article
When a row shows a completion timestamp and article status, click "Open article" to view it. -
Copy the article link
Click "Copy link" on that row. The row briefly changes to "Copied" to confirm.
Retry a stopped upload
-
Retry manually
If a row shows that the upload stopped, click "Retry upload" to put it back in the queue. "Retry upload" is available only when the upload has stopped. It won't appear while a job is waiting, actively uploading, or writing. -
Let Chrome retry automatically for interrupted uploads
If Chrome's upload was interrupted (by a browser shutdown, for example), Chrome automatically retries after approximately 1, 2, 5, 10, and 30 minutes. You don't need to do anything during that window. After all automatic attempts, the row stays available for you to retry manually with "Retry upload". -
Handle a signed-out upload
If a row says "You were signed out during the upload", sign in, return to the setup screen, and click "Retry upload" on that row. Signed-out uploads don't retry automatically. -
Handle an upload recorded with another account or workspace
If a row says "Recorded with another account" or names a different workspace, switch back to that account or workspace. Until you do, "Retry upload" won't appear. If you don't want to keep the recording, you can remove it instead. -
Handle a recording that exceeds the step limit
If the row says the recording exceeds the 70-step maximum, reduce the recording before retrying.
Retry article writing
-
Retry when article writing failed
If the upload succeeded but the article couldn't be written, the row shows the problem. Click "Retry writing" to try again. The button is temporarily unavailable while the retry is being submitted. -
Address a plan limit before retrying
If the row shows "Your plan's article limit is reached", there's no "Retry writing" button. You need to address the limit first. You can check your current usage to see where you stand.
Remove a stopped upload
- Remove a recording you don't need
Click "Remove" on a stopped, signed-out, or wrong-account row. This deletes the queued recording and its local upload data. If an article had already been created on the server, that article is not deleted. "Remove" is not available while a job is actively uploading or waiting its turn.
If the folder you originally selected was deleted before the upload completed, the article is saved to Private instead, and the row notes that change. If you had audio recording enabled but no voice was captured, the row notes "no voice recorded".
