How to Embed a Loom Video in a Help Article

Embed Loom videos directly into your help articles by pasting the share link into the Insert Video dialog within the article editor

You can embed a Loom video directly into a help article by pasting its share link into the editor's "Insert Video" dialog. The article has to be editable, and no extra role or plan is needed.

Open the article

  1. Go to your Help Center
From the main product surface, open "Help Centers" and choose the Help Center that contains the article.

  2. Open the article in the editor
Select the article's title in the article list or group tree. The article opens in the editor.

Insert the Loom video

  1. Place your insertion point
Click in the article body where you want the video to appear. The video is embedded at the current insertion point.

  2. Click "Insert Video"
In the formatting toolbar beside the article, click the "Insert Video" button. Hover over the toolbar buttons to see their labels if you're not sure which one it is.

The button only appears while the article is editable. It's hidden in these cases:

    • The article is being generated.
    • Generation has failed.
    • You're in the scaffold view and haven't switched to writing manually yet.

It's also unavailable in read-only translation preview.

  3. Paste your Loom link
In the "Insert Video" dialog, click the "Video URL" field and paste the full Loom share link, starting with https://www.loom.com/share/. This field is required. Don't worry that the placeholder shows a YouTube example. Loom links work too.

When the link is recognized, the dialog shows "Loom detected" and a "Preview" of your video.

  4. Fix the link if it isn't recognized
If you see "Unsupported platform" with the message "Only YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and Google Drive videos are supported", the URL isn't from a supported site. A malformed or incomplete URL also blocks insertion. In both cases, the "Insert Video" button stays disabled. Copy the full share link from Loom again and paste it into the "Video URL" field.

  5. Click "Insert Video" in the dialog
Once the Loom preview appears, click the "Insert Video" button in the dialog. The dialog closes and the video is embedded in your article at the insertion point.
